Necromunda Is Back!

It’s been more than a decade since we last visited the Necromunda Underhive, but very soon you’ll be able to battle it out in the depths of Hive Primus.

Necromunda is a tabletop skirmish game that was first produced by Games Workshop back in 1995. It was a huge hit, but phased out a while ago.

The Necromunda Underhive is a big place, and the gangs that inhabit it are as diverse as the alien races that inhabit the 41st Millennium. Games Workshop are launching Necromunda with two classics gangs.

Between intense skirmish battles, your gang will grow from a pack of battle-hungry Juves to a feared and respected syndicate of hardened veterans. To get there, however, you’ll have to battle against your fellow players, each with a gang of their own.

The Underhive is a big place, and the gangs that inhabit it are as diverse as the alien races that inhabit the 41st Millennium. Games Workshop are launching Necromunda with two classics.

Gangs from House Escher are fast, deadly, and cruel. While lightly armoured, these cunning warrior women hold their own in melee combat, while at range, they are notorious for their use of armour-melting plasma weaponry.

Warhammer 40K RPG – New for 2017

A brief announcement was made on the Warhammer Community Website today:

Warhammer 40K Role Play – Wrath and Glory

A new Warhammer 40,000 roleplaying game is coming – soon, you’ll be able to dive into the 41st Millennium in Wrath & Glory. Tabletop roleplaying is a very different experience from wargaming – rather than commanding your forces from above, you’ll be able to inhabit characters of your own design in imaginative collaborative storytelling.

Wrath & Glory is currently in development at Ulisses North America, an experienced designer and publisher of several popular roleplaying games. We can’t reveal anything more at this point, but watch this space for updates and news, and get ready for your own adventures in the 41st Millennium.

That is all – you can read it here – but no release date, no details.

Are roleplay games the new skirmish games?

Does the world need a new 40K RPG?

In the world of Pax Britannia, series creator / author Jonathan Green crafts another storming Boy?s Own steampunk adventure where Mary Shelley meets Kim Newman meets The Terminator.

About Pax Britannia

Pax Britannia was Abaddon?s fourth shared world, launching with Jonathan Green?s Unnatural History in February 2007. A steampunk alternative history set in a late twentieth century in which Queen Victoria ? now nearing the end of her sixteenth decade on the throne, and wholly dependent on steam technology for survival ? rules over the vastly wealthy, powerful and decadent Empire of Magna Britannia. Airships ply the skies overhead as gentlemen of leisure admire the dinosaurs in the London Zoo, while the Empire has extended to the Moon. Across the pond, the United Socialist States of America, loosely allied with the might of Magna Britannia, is home to dreamers, poets, madmen, and heroes, poised to usher in a new era.
The series has included six books by Jonathan Green, featuring the adventures of Ulysses Lucian Quicksilver, dandy and adventurer and agent of the throne; an omnibus collecting the first three is currently available.

About Jonathan Green

Jonathan Green is well known for his contribution to the Fighting Fantasy range of adventure gamebooks as well as his novels in Games Workshop?s world of Warhammer and Warhammer 40,000. The creator of the world of Pax Britannia, Anno Frankenstein is his seventh novel for Abaddon.

Horus Rising – Warhammer 40K – Black Library

Horus Rising Abridged Audio Book CD

Warhammer 40K is the powerhouse world created by Games Workshop for the popular table top battle game. The books (published by The Black Library, part of GW) have lent themselves to producing fantastic quality science fiction / fantasy and many have been penned by excelent genre writers such as Mike Lee, Graham McNeill, James Swallow and, on this occassion Dan Abnett.

The step into audio is inspired, chosing quality actors to read for our listining pleasure, in this case Martyn Eliis (Sarah Jane Smith Adventures, New Adventures of Robin Hood).

Cover Blurb
It is the 31st millennium. Under the benevolent leadership of the Immortal Emperor, the Imperium of Man hasstretched out across the galaxy. It is a golden age of discovery and conquest. But now, on the eve of victory, the Emperor leaves the front lines, entrusting the great crusade to his favourite son, Horus. Promoted to Warmaster, can the idealistic Horus carry out the Emperor?s grand plan, or will this promotion sow the seeds of heresy amongst his brothers? Horus Rising is the first chapter in the epic tale of the Horus Heresy, a galactic civil war that threatened to bring about the extinction of humanity.

Major criticismby others is seen to be the fact this is an abridged version. This is not something I am bothered by, give the narrator Martyn Eliis a break. The audio is a heavy six hours long as it is. At under ?20 this still represents great value for money. If you want to know what you are missing, Dan Abnett’s book is still in print and also republished as a 5th anniversary edition in April 2011.

This is a fantastic entry point to the world of Warhammer 40K as it is not bogged down with the mythos of Warhammer and the narrative flows along with the action it describes.
