NO! This is not a post from 1991. Yes there have been 5(? Who is counting?) Terminator films and a TV series, so why hark back to a movie over quarter of a century old?
Well, it has been 3D-i-fied, 3Derated, or something like that.
Terminator 2 originally hit British screens in 1991, complete with groundbreaking special effects, this became Arnold Schwarzenegger’s (Total Recall, Predator) most iconic role to date, as well as one of the most quotable scripts of the decade, this brand new 3D version will blast the seminal blockbuster into the 21st century and introduce it to a brand new generation of fans.
It has been 10 years since the events of Terminator. Sarah Connor’s (Linda Hamilton The Terminator, Dante’s Peak) ordeal is only just beginning as she struggles to protect her son John (Edward Furlong American History X, Pecker), the future leader of the human resistance against the machines, from a new Terminator (Robert Patrick Walk the Line, ‘The X Files’), sent back in time to eliminate John Connor while he’s still a child. Sarah and John don’t have to face this terrifying threat alone however. The human resistance have managed to send them an ally, a warrior from the future ordered to protect John Connor at any cost.
The battle for tomorrow has begun…
TERMINATOR 2: JUDGMENT DAY will return to UK cinemas from August 29th in a breath-taking new 3D conversion overseen by James Cameron himself.
Terminator 2: Judgement Day 3D Restoration
The original 35mm negative was scanned and then restored in 4k at Deluxe L.A., under the supervision of Geoff Burdick from Lightstorm. The film was calibrated in 4k by Skip, James Cameron’s colorist, at Technicolor Hollywood, with a selection of the best 35mm prints from the film’s first release. The film was then converted into 3D by Stereo D (Star Wars, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Jurassic world).
This work lasted almost a year and was monitored daily by Lightstorm’s teams, to produce a high-end 3D version at the level of the latest 3D releases from U.S. Studios. The 3D version then benefited from a calibration and a specific finish at Technicolor Hollywood, still under the supervision of Skip and James Cameron himself.
The restoration project was initiated by Lightstorm (lei), James Cameron’s production company, DMG Entertainment and STUDIOCANAL. James Cameron’s team oversaw this 3D conversion from start to finish. This highly experienced and award-winning team had already supervised Titanic’s 3D conversion and is currently working on the Avatar sequels.
Board Games have been a HUGE thing over the last few years, with millions taking up dice and cards instead of game console controller.
Classic titles have been re worked, and movie licences are now being mined.
Space Goat Productions have already launched a very sucessful Kickstarter for their Evil Dead 2 Board Game, and have now turned their sight to another 1980s movie title, THE TERMINATOR!
William Wisher, one of the screenwriters of the original 1984 film, has been brought on as a story consultant. “I’m very excited to be consulting with the creative team at Space Goat to bring The Terminator™ board game to life!” said William Wisher. “I’ve missed my old friends Sarah Connor, Kyle Reese, and the T-800. It will be fun to spend time with them again!”
“We’re bringing 1984 back. The only movie we care about is the original. We love retro. We want to explore the beginning.” Space Goat President Shon Bury said. “Which is why for this game, we’re focusing on what hardcore Terminator fans love about the original movie.”
The board game is currently under production. The Terminator™: The Official Board Game is an asymmetrical strategy game played across two boards – one in 1984 and one in 2029. One player takes control of all the forces of the machines: Hunter Killer flying machines, Terminator endoskeletons , and new robots based on the classic 80s aesthetic. The rest of the players take the role of the human resistance, struggling against the impossible odds of the machine uprising.
“At its robotic heart, The Terminator™ is a raw and intense chase scene,” Evil Dead 2 Board Game Designer Taylor Smith said. “Combine that with a reactive time travel mechanic and you get a super fun mash-up of action and strategy.”
The Terminator: The Official Board Game™ will be launching on Kickstarter in February of 2017.
As far as I am concerned Cineworld is the king of cinemas, but other cinemas are available.
Terminator Genisys Trailer
Arnold Schwarzenegger & Emilia Clarke star in Terminator: Genisys [sic].
There is awesomeness in there no doubt, but I do worry that it is going to be a rehash of Terminator 2. But then ARNIE is back and it is Terminator, so I will be there July 2015 when it is released in the UK.
And no Cineworld didn’t sponsor this post, but if they wanted to chuck me a couple of tickets I wouldn’t say no.

One of the biggest shames in Terminator history is that fact that the production of the first 3 movies was splintered over several distributors, thus the licence for the various movie’s DVDs are split over different companies. So it is rarely that we will see a complete movie boxed set – which would suit this move for such an important franchise to Blu Ray so well.
The Terminator – (also the Governator still) Arnold Schwarzenegger is back as the ultimate cyborg assassin for another explosive, action-packed ride in Terminator 3, but this time he?s taking on Skynet in High-Def! This global smash-hit blasts onto screens on Blu-ray Disc on May 25th ?2009, looking better than ever and including exclusive special features and interactive content. The Picture-in-Picture ?Terminator Vision? gives fans the chance to join Director Jonathan Mostow as he takes them on a Behind-the-Scenes tour of the movie, whilst the cinechat feature lets viewers interact with each other as they experience the enhanced visuals and sound that only Blu-ray can deliver!
A decade has passed since John Connor (Nick Stahl) helped prevent Judgment Day and save mankind from mass destruction. Now 22, Connor lives “off the grid” – no home, no credit cards, no cell phone and no job. No record of his existence. No way he can be traced by Skynet – the highly developed network of machines that once tried to kill him and wage war on humanity. Until… …out of the shadows of the future steps the T-X (Kristanna Loken), Skynet’s most sophisticated cyborg killing machine yet. Sent back through time to complete the job left unfinished by her predecessor, the T-1000, this machine is as relentless as her human guise is beautiful. Now Connor’s only hope for survival is The Terminator (Arnold Schwarzenegger), his mysterious former assassin. Together, they must triumph over the technologically superior T-X and forestall the looming threat of Judgment Day…or face the apocalypse and the fall of civilization as we know it.
Directed by Jonathan Mostowwith thescreenplay written by John Brancato (Terminator Salvation) and Michael Ferris (Terminator Salvation), Terminator 3 also stars Claire Danes (Stardust), Nick Stahl (Sin City) and Kristanna Loken (The L-Word) as the beautiful but deadly cyborg T-X.
