Lego Red Dwarf, An Idea You Should Back.

Full Lego Red Dwarf Set

Full Lego Red Dwarf Set
Full Lego Red Dwarf Set
Here at Scifind we love Red Dwarf and LEGO, so what better campaign to back that that to get an official Lego Red Dwarf set!

With Lego MiniFigs of Dave Lister, Cat, Kryten, Arnold Rimmer and a Skutter the Playset includes some of the permanent fixtures including Dave and Arnold’s bunks and the Holly Hop Drive. There is also a Blue Midgit.

A Starbug playset may be fodder for a possible future Lego Red Dwarf set.

The steps needed to get this Red Dwarf Lego set in production are essentially get 100,000 votes (which the project is well over half way) then get official LEGO approval.

Looking at the images (below) this would be an amazing set to follow the Doctor Who Lego set.

Taken from the blurb on the official Lego Page.

Set on board the mining ship of the shows namesake. My set features Dave Lister the last human being alive, Arnold Rimmer a Hologram of his dead bunkmate, CAT a creature that evolved from Lister’s pet cat Frankenstein, an Android named Kryten and finally the ships senile computer system Holly.

As an added incentive, my set also features the shows two favourite recurring characters, Ace Rimmer and Daune Dibbley!

With continuity itself being a running joke on the show, I have decided to use this to my advantage and create a truly unique set, which uses the best aspects from across all the seasons. The RED crew quarters décor from season X, the Holly Hop Drive from season II, the space craft Blue Midget and the male incarnation of Holly.

The sets main features include Lister and Rimmer’s iconic bunk beds (includes the posters inside), a sliding airlock door and not forgetting one of the ship’s mischievous Skutters.

Disney to buy Lego in 2015

Disney Ownership Of Lego in 2015?
Disney Ownership Of Lego in 2015?
Thinking about possible developments in 2015 how likely is it that LEGO will be acquired by Disney? Quite possible. Look at the evidence.
Top LEGO licences:

Star Wars
Superheroes (Marvel)
Cars
Disney Princesses
Jake and the Neverland Pirates
And now Frozen

All owned by Disney.

What could block it?
The Warner Brothers licences, Batman, DC superheroes. The biggest threat to a Disney take over of LEGO might be the HOBBIT/Lord Of The Rings franchises. Tolkien famously stated he didn’t want Disney having anything to do with his Characters.

Which is your favourite?

The LEGO Movie follows Emmet, an ordinary, rules-following, perfectly average LEGO minifigure who is mistakenly identified as the most extraordinary person and the key to saving the world. Emmet (Chris Pratt) is drafted into a fellowship of strangers on an epic quest to stop an evil tyrant, a journey for which he is hopelessly and hilariously underprepared.

LEGO: THE MOVIE – Lego creation competition for children

Winners have the chance for their creations to appear in the upcoming LEGO movie due to be released in cinemas in 2014

This contest is for children aged 5-13 years old. As of today, participants can register on www.lego-themovie.co.uk and they have until the end of December to design and build the best LEGO creation. This is an opportunity to receive 5 family passes to LEGOLAND (Windsor), but most of all, the chance to see their creation appear in the new LEGO movie from Warner Bros. Pictures and Village Roadshow Pictures, directed by Phil Lord & Christopher Miller, and set for a 2014 release.

Will Arnett, Elizabeth Banks, Chris Pratt and Morgan Freeman will lend their vocal talents to the LEGO® world, starring as characters in the upcoming original 3D animated LEGO feature, currently in production, from Warner Bros. Pictures and Village Roadshow Pictures.

The film, the first-ever full length theatrical LEGO movie, follows Emmet, an ordinary, rules-following, perfectly average LEGO minifigure who is mistakenly identified as the most extraordinary person and the key to saving the world.  He is drafted into a fellowship of strangers on an epic quest to stop an evil tyrant, a journey for which Emmet is hopelessly and hilariously underprepared.

Chris Pratt (“Moneyball”) stars as Emmet.  Oscar® winner Morgan Freeman (“Million Dollar Baby”) and Elizabeth Banks (“The Hunger Games,” Emmy nominee for “30 Rock”), will star as two of Emmet’s fellow travelers: Vitruvius, an old mystic; and tough-as-nails Lucy, who mistakes Emmet for the savior of the world and guides him on his quest. She also calls upon the mysterious Batman, a LEGO® minifigure voiced by Will Arnett (Emmy nominee, “30 Rock”), with whom she shares a history.

The 3D computer animated adventure will open nationwide on February 28, 2014.

Phil Lord & Christopher Miller (“21 Jump Street,” Golden Globe nominee “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs”) are directing from their original screenplay, story by Dan Hageman & Kevin Hageman and Phil Lord & Christopher Miller, based on LEGO construction toys.  The film will incorporate some of the most popular LEGO figures while introducing several new characters, inviting fans who have enjoyed the brand’s innovative toys and hugely popular video games for generations to experience their visually unique LEGO world as never seen before.

The film will be produced by Dan Lin (“Sherlock Holmes,” “Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows”) and Roy Lee (“The Departed,” “How to Train Your Dragon”).  It will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company, and in select territories by Village Roadshow Pictures.

LEGO to do Jurassic Park Toys?

Possibly the worlds best toy line LEGO has been persuing many different Movie and Character licences. Could the Jurassic Park movies be next in line for a Minifig makeover?

LEGO has chased a large number of big licences, so could Jurassic Park LEGO join the likes of the following?:

Harry Potter
DC Superheroes (Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman etc)
MARVEL Super Heroes (Spider-Man, Iron man etc)
LEGO Star Wars
LEGO Lord Of The Rings
Sponge Bob etc.

For full details on these please see the official LEGO website,

Now I have noticed that with the case of LEGO Lord Of The Rings, very similar MINIFIGS started to appear in the ‘Kingdoms’ range (orcs / wizards etc). Which have now seemed to dissapear from their website gearing up to the new line of LEGO Lord Of The Rings Toys, (see this link, click Themes then Kingdoms).

Lately we have seen the DINO range of LEGO appear, I am wondering if this is a generic set launch before the announcement of the Jurassic Park range?

Take a close look at the LEGO Dino sets featured on the right or on the official LEGO WEBSITE, looking likely?

Although dinosaurs are generic, the types of toy sets being produces obviously pulls from the Jurassic Park mythos.

Time will tell….

Lego Superheroes To Appear Earlier Than Expected?

It?s been 5 long months since Lego unveiled the prototype figures for its new line of Marvel & DC superhero minifigures at the San Diego Comic-Con. Since then there has been much speculation as to what we can expect from the forthcoming sets, and when they?re likely to arrive. Well, the wait is almost over, and details are starting filter out of Jutland.

DC fans will be the first to get their fix, with sets featuring Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and Lex Luthor scheduled to launch in January 2012. However, this date may actually move forward as the first Ninjago sets, scheduled to launch in January 2011, actually appeared in shops a few weeks before Christmas 2010. If you?re lucky you may well be able to surprise the comic book guy (or girl!) in your life with some injection-moulded superheroes this Christmas.

The prices for the first sets will range from around ?5.99 for 6858 Catwoman Catcycle City Chase (which features an excellent Batman-with-glider figure) to ?18.99 for the superb 6862 Superman vs Power Armour Lex Luthor, that also includes a bonus comic book and Wonder Woman figure.

It?s hoped that other, larger sets such as the massive 6860 Batcave and 6864 Batmobile and the Two-Face Chase will launch in January but the smart money?s on them being held back until The Dark Knight Rises makes its bow in cinemas in July. The Green Lantern sets are also expected to miss the first wave of releases.

Marvel fans are going to have to wait a little longer than Batfans, as Lego is holding off on releasing the Captain America, Wolverine and Hulk sets until interest the first wave is on the (Bruce) Wane (sorry).

Speaking as a Lego obsessive myself, my advice to you is to not hang about if you?re at all interested in these sets. The Batman Begins Tumbler set quadrupled in value on the day it was discontinued, and a MISB set will now cost you north of ?500 ? that?s more than a tenfold increase in 2 years. If only real bricks (and mortar) appreciated in this way, huh?
