Zombicide: Invader will be the next miniature heavy board game in the Zombicide franchise.
If you have been living away from Kickstarter and Boardgames you may not know that Zombicide is one of the biggest series of boardgames that has ever been released via Kickstarter.
Zombicide is a cooperative board game that sees survivors working together to get through zombie hoards to reach various objectives.
The original series of games were set in the modern day and channel Romero esq zombie movies.
Following on from this Zombicide Black Plague saw the series shift to a Sword and Sorcery setting. The latest part of the series was Zombicide Green Hoard which was backed on Kickstarter by over 27 thousand people and raised a massive $5million.
Now CMON will be raiding our bank accounts to raise what will probably be a similar level of interest for ZOMBICIDE: INVADER, their first step into SciFi for the Zombie based series.
Like previous contributions to the games we expect there to be a lot of Movie and Pop culture references and the game play will be kept to the same style of coop survivors on a tiles board.
The Kickstarter campaign is not too far away, it is due to start on April 10th 2018, but as with their previous campaigns you should be prepared to wait around a year to get hold of the plastic and cardboard goodies.
Anyone who know me or had read this in the past will know I am a fan of the Mantic Games‘ The Walking Dead miniatures game. So it fills me with glee to see Mantic turning their hand to another licence. In this case HELLBOY.
With the reveal of their first miniature, the red handed demon monkey himself Mantic have also started a competition to win a Hellboy Miniature.
Today we’re delighted to unveil the first miniature from the upcoming Hellboy game! Also, we’ve got a great community contest for you to get involved in.
Would you like to paint one of the pre-production Hellboy miniatures? Just comment below with a pic of your best painted Mantic miniature (it has to be Mantic so we can share the results) by March 29th and we’ll choose our favourite to receive a resin Hellboy to paint (and keep) ahead of the Kickstarter launch. What are you waiting for? Get painting!
The news of Mantic’s Hellboy project reached us on the 5th January this year:
Mantic Games is pleased to announce it has entered into a licensing partnership with Dark Horse Comics for the worldwide rights to produce a game set in Mike Mignola’s inspirational Hellboy comic book universe.
The Hellboy board game will be a co-operative experience in which players face off against some of the comic’s most famous foes. Up to four people take control of iconic BRPD members, such as Hellboy, Abe Sapien and Roger the Homunculus, before exploring gothic locations and uncovering ancient artifacts.
The project is due to hit Kickstarter in April 2018. (and we cannot wait).
The Hellboy board game will be developed at Mantic by Mantic’s own (and formerly Games Workshop’s) James M. Hewitt. James’ previous gaming development credits include DreadBall, Necromunda 2017, Blood Bowl 2016, Warhammer Quest: Silver Tower and Horus Heresy: Betrayal at Calth. So he is no stranger to developing engaging games.
“The thought of sinking my teeth into the BPRD’s adventures and reimagining them for the tabletop… well, that sounds more fun than a monkey with a gun. This is a great chance to make a narrative-led game that mixes big, loud action with a wry sense of humour. I can’t wait!”
Introducing a narrative Turn-Based Strategy game with strong RPG elements set in the Achtung! Cthulhu universe
7th February, 2018: The allied powers of tabletop star Modiphius, indie publisher extraordinaire Ripstone and veteran strategy game developer Auroch Digital have announced they are marshalling their collective forces to will bring the award-winning Achtung! Cthulhu tabletop series to PC, in their new video game: Achtung! Cthulhu Tactics – The Forest of Fear, later this year.
Achtung! Cthulhu Tactics – The Forest of Fear is a World War II themed strategic role-playing game in which the Nazis have turned to other-worldly beings to bolster their war effort. In this universe, the Nazi’s well-known obsession with the occult has yielded results, with their discovery that the creatures of the Cthulhu Mythos are real. Thus begins ‘The Secret War’ where covert allied operators fight desperate battles against an unholy alliance of Nazi science and Mythos sorcery. Featuring Shoggoth-powered Panzers, HMG-armed investigators, mutated Nazi super soldiers, secret bunkers filled with mysterious research and alien artifact-powered wonder weapons – Achtung! Cthulhu Tactics – The Forest of Fear has it all!
Achtung! Cthulhu originally debuted five years ago as a Kickstarter project by the then nascent Modiphius. It smashed its original funding goal many times over and has expanded to a wide range of tabletop products including expansions to the RPG, a skirmish miniatures game, novels, audio dramas, and multiple crossovers with other licenses. It has wowed critics as well as players with its sweeping apocalyptic narrative arc and inventive monstrous creations, winning multiple awards since its release.
Tomas Rawlings, Chief Commander at Auroch Digital has released a statement only recently broken by the boffins at Bletchley Park, “It’s a real honor to work alongside Modiphius and Ripstone on what will be a premium Cthulhu-mashup. Having worked with the Ripstone team before back in the PlayStation 3 days, together we made amazing strategy games, and I’m confident history will repeat itself!”
Resident Evil 2 Board game is going to be live on Kickstarter soon.
Steamforged Games is thrilled to announce an exciting new partnership with Capcom to bring the iconic Resident Evil™ 2 video game to the board gamers of the world. Building on the success of previous titles including “Guild Ball” and “Dark Souls: The Board Game”, Steamforged Games will be launching this latest game, “Resident Evil™ 2: The Board Game” via Kickstarter in late Autumn 2017.
Steamforged Games just bought out Dark Souls after their record breaking kickstarter, but are possibly better known for their fantasy football game Guild Ball.
At Scifind.com we are really looking forward to this release BUT we are slightly wary that it might be very similar to CMON’s Zombicide games.
I am sure though that Steamforged can do Resident Evil justice in miniature form and just hope that images of the minis start coming through soon.
There will be updates and IMAGES of miniatures coming soon. Follow @scifind on twitter or facebook for details.

Ok. So these are early renders but they look to be in a good clear cut style, with enough detail to make interesting characters, but still be a single piece plastic mini. Cannot wait to get my hands on the final minis.
Yes, boardgames. But we are not talking Monopoly, Cluedo or similar (though I am sure that if you made Hammer Horror Dracula Cluedo you would sell some).
You have done this in the past with Hammer Horror Forbidden Terrortory over a decade ago.
Players try and rescue a Victim whilst trying to destroy Dracula before he gets uber strong. Players need to collect protection to avoid the ghouls dotted around the Count’s lair. Players get five days to complete this task. But beware one bite from a vampire makes you a vampire too!
Forbidden Terrortory is hardly buzzing on BoardGamesGeek (possibly the worlds largest table top gaming community) with no comments, star ratings and just 16 people claiming to own the game, compared with the likes of Fury Of Dracula, third edition which has over 12,000 claiming to own, hundreds of comments on discussion threads.
UK Based Tabletop gaming Kickstarter.com projects raised a whopping £1.25m over 3 months in 2016/2017. Over £20m from over 300 project worldwide in this time.
There is a market for modern table top games and at Scifind.com we would love to see a Hammer Horror based game. While the horror board game market is buoyant, for example the Zombicide Games the latest of which raised over $5million being backed by over 27,000 people. Definitly the table top games market is seeing another golden age, fueled by Kickstarters and several distinct modern game types, from the miniature based skirmish games, the ‘American’ board games (usually theme heavy with dice, cards, miniatures and strategic objectives) to the very popular Euro game types (Abstract strategy games Catan, Ticket to Ride, etc).
So what am I getting at, well I believe that the time is right for Hammer to look at having a piece of this lucrative market, but I would suggest that they look at a title away from the obvious miniatures based, high quality plastic 28mm Hammer characters and go with something focused on playability and the history of Hammer Films.
I would love to see a resource based Euro Game, in the vein of Agricola or Stone Age, where the players take on the role of Hammer Movie producers looking to build Movies over a series of rounds. Resources would include location, budget, actors, directors etc. I would be a great celebration of the history of the game and the industry of previous decades, as well as having the playability of and broader appeal of the Euro Game style.
The beauty of Kickstarter is that funds can be raised before production of the game, taking a good chunk of the risk out of producing the game.
Personally I would love to speak to someone at hammer further and possibly introduce them to people in the gaming industry. I would love to think that with the meeting of great minds, sometime next year, I could be backer number one for a Kickstarter for a Hammer Universe Euro Game.
Space Goat Productions announced today that the Kickstarter campaign for The Terminator™: The Official Board Game will go live on February 15th. They have partnered with Lynnvander Studios for game design.
“Terminator isn’t just pop culture; it’s culture,” said Publisher Shon Bury. “It’s immense,” he continued. “To do a property of this magnitude, so hot on the heels of our Evil Dead 2 board game Kickstarter, we had to bring in the best help we could find. There is no better help than the guys who made the Buffy game, Lynnvander.”
Branching into board game design from production in the film industry, Lynnvander enters 2017 with The Terminator™, Galaxy Quest, Dragon Ball Z, and Cowboy Bebop. “We’re especially excited for Terminator because of the fan base and the unique game we’ve designed with Space Goat,” commented designer Thomas Gofton. “They’re a creative and experience-driven, good-hearted company. That fits Lynnvander’s Canadian motto.”
The Terminator™: The Official Board Game is an asymmetrical strategy game played across two boards, one in 1984 and one in 2029. One player takes control of all the forces of the Skynet machines: Hunter Killer flying machines, Terminator Endoskeletons, and new robots based on the classic 80’s aesthetic. The rest of the players take the role of the human resistance, struggling against the impossible odds of the machine uprising.
The Kickstarter campaign will feature The Termination Box, a box of accessories and miniatures for the game that will be available for a discount only during the Kickstarter campaign. For more information on the Kickstarter and to sign up for email updates, visit www.terminatorboardgame.com.
Board Games have been a HUGE thing over the last few years, with millions taking up dice and cards instead of game console controller.
Classic titles have been re worked, and movie licences are now being mined.
Space Goat Productions have already launched a very sucessful Kickstarter for their Evil Dead 2 Board Game, and have now turned their sight to another 1980s movie title, THE TERMINATOR!
William Wisher, one of the screenwriters of the original 1984 film, has been brought on as a story consultant. “I’m very excited to be consulting with the creative team at Space Goat to bring The Terminator™ board game to life!” said William Wisher. “I’ve missed my old friends Sarah Connor, Kyle Reese, and the T-800. It will be fun to spend time with them again!”
“We’re bringing 1984 back. The only movie we care about is the original. We love retro. We want to explore the beginning.” Space Goat President Shon Bury said. “Which is why for this game, we’re focusing on what hardcore Terminator fans love about the original movie.”
The board game is currently under production. The Terminator™: The Official Board Game is an asymmetrical strategy game played across two boards – one in 1984 and one in 2029. One player takes control of all the forces of the machines: Hunter Killer flying machines, Terminator endoskeletons , and new robots based on the classic 80s aesthetic. The rest of the players take the role of the human resistance, struggling against the impossible odds of the machine uprising.
“At its robotic heart, The Terminator™ is a raw and intense chase scene,” Evil Dead 2 Board Game Designer Taylor Smith said. “Combine that with a reactive time travel mechanic and you get a super fun mash-up of action and strategy.”
The Terminator: The Official Board Game™ will be launching on Kickstarter in February of 2017.

While designing skill cards we did not want to go the easy way and put “+x bonus” on them. Instead we designed them to be highly dynamic and story related. Hound pulling sniper on his line of movement? Angel of Death with a final charge from the sky? Brute taunting his enemies? All possible in The Edge!
The Edge will have also rich campaign story mode, where the game will be played on 2 boards: economic /political map of the world and regular, conflict Board Game for resolving battles. This way, game will play on two levels, just like in Total War computer games series.
Scenarios will enable you to dive into rich The Edge universe, where you will learn about each factions motivation. They will also force you to take hard decisions with consequences later on in the game.
Each faction from The Edge have different set of units, skill cards and other feel of play. This makes every match up really exciting and you can find a game style that will fit you best.
Large hex system
With large hex system we believe we brought revolution to overall movement and game dynamic. All actions are operated on small hex, but all movement and ranges are considered with Large Hexes (7 small hexes). This way, it is very easy to move around and flow of the game on big board is amazing!
Size DOES matter
The Edge comes with really BIG miniatures and we want you to feel their power and presence. Big units can push over smaller units out of their positions and this gives the game additional dimension.
Game is growing
Gameplay is focused on gathering crystals that will be added to your mana pool. They are constant source of power for your skills. Players are growing in power turn by turn and game is more tense with time.
Build your army and your deck
You will be able to build your army and deck of skills. Thousands of possibilities limited only by your imagination!
The SLA Industries Skirmish Game has been many years in the making, so first a little history.
Way back in 1993 Scottish company Nightfall Games released SLA Industries a science fiction/horror table top RPG. Dice and books not a computer in sight. SLA Industries (SLA pronounced SLAY) is a very British antidote to the slick and angsty settings that were popular at the time. Set in The World Of Progress, the sphere of SLA Industries’ influence in the known universe, players take on the roles of operatives, employees of an all-encompassing company that controls a frightened population with reality TV and violence while a creeping horror claws its way through the edges of reality.
The game has seen renewed popularity recently, as Nightfall Games reclaimed publication, releasing source material as PDFs over the last few years. With the game returning to print in the near future, Nightfall Games partnered with Daruma Productions to produce a line of miniatures (including iconic characters like Halloween Jack and Delia the Destroyer) and a skirmish game to allow more people to enjoy the setting and characters of SLA Industries.
Daruma Productions have already produced a number of miniatures Scavs, Shivers, Carrien and a couple of heroes for the SLA Industries Skirmish Game and the Kickstarter launches the rules!
Rewards for the Kickstarter include the printed rulebook and faction cards.
What you are funding is the rulebook and faction decks. The book is to be full-colour with all-new illustrations by Dave Allsop, designed by Nightfall Games and written by Daruma Productions with dozens of pages of new background and information by Dave Allsop and Jared Earle, two of the original writers of SLA Industries. Our head of Rules Development is Brad Zalad, a familiar face in the UK tournament scene. He runs a tight ship ruleswise and is keen that SLA Industries: Cannibal Sector 1 is a balance between tight, tournament-ready rules and scenario-driven narrative games.
Along with the gorgeous rulebook, you will be getting faction decks and other goodies depending on your pledge levels, all fresh from the high-quality Daruma Productions facilities, including exclusive bags and shirts.
THE WICKED WIZARD OF OZ is a brand new nightmarish gamebook – a multi-path book, very much in the style of Choose Your Own Adventure and Fighting Fantasy Gamebooks, in which you choose the course of the story – inspired by The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, by L. Frank Baum, and the Dieselpunk aesthetic movement.
