Cosplay short for “costume play”. Characters are often drawn from popular fiction in Japan, but recent trends have included American cartoons and science fiction. Favorite sources include manga, anime, tokusatsu, comic books, graphic novels, video games, hentai and fantasy movies.
Or dressing up as you and I might call it.
Key Steampunk costume items include Victorian / Elizabethan jackets, Top hats, round ‘welding’ goggles and accessories with many brass cogs etc.
