More HP Lovecraft Horror In The UK

PRE Import / Export Limited will be the exclusive UK distributor for the DARK RADIO THEATRE audio dramas.

Currently there are two productions available, AT THE MOUNTAINS OF MADDNESS which has already enjoyed a limited well received UK release and THE DUNWICH HORROR which will have its first release in the UK from1st September 2008 (TBC).

Both adaptations of the classic horror tales are 75 minute full cast audio dramas, not just a talking book. Also both feature a number of collectible replica documents that are ideal for use in horror role play games, or simply to be enjoyed as visual aids for the audio dramas.

Howard Phillips Lovecraft (August 20, 1890 ? March 15, 1937) was an American author of horror, fantasy, and science fiction, known then simply as weird fiction.

Lovecraft’s major inspiration and invention was cosmic horror: the idea that life is incomprehensible to human minds and that the universe is fundamentally alien. Those who genuinely reason, like his protagonists, gamble with sanity. Lovecraft has developed a cult following for his Cthulhu Mythos, a series of loosely interconnected fictions featuring a pantheon of human-nullifying entities, as well as the Necronomicon, a fictional grimoire of magical rites and forbidden lore. His works were deeply pessimistic and cynical, challenging the values of Enlightenment, Romanticist, and Christian humanism. Lovecraft’s protagonists usually achieve the mirror-opposite of traditional gnosis and mysticism by momentarily glimpsing the horror of ultimate reality.

Although Lovecraft’s readership was limited during his life, his reputation has grown over the decades, and he is now commonly regarded as one of the most influential horror writers of the 20th century, exerting widespread and indirect influence, and frequently compared to Edgar Allan Poe.

About Dark Adventure Radio Theater

The HP Lovecraft Historical Society (HPLHS), creators of the silent film The Call of Cthulhu (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0478988/) and many other strange things produced their audio adaptations of H.P. Lovecraft’s work as the Dark Adventure Radio Theater (DART).

The HPLHS was founded by friends Sean Branney and Andrew Leman in 1987 who share a common interest in the works of Lovecraft.

The HPLHS began publication of a monthly newsletter entitled Strange Eons, edited by Andrew Leman and Philip Bell, which continued for over two years. The Society also founded the HPLHS Press, which published very limited editions of books of interest to the membership. The society has grown to what it is today with numerous products and productions.

The motto of the HPLHS and the RHS is Ludo Fore Putavimus: a Latin phrase meaning ?We thought it would be fun.? And it is.
