Actor David Hemmings (Blow Up, Deep Red) steps behind the camera to direct this atmospheric version of James Herbert’s famed novel, The Survivor, with an all-star cast including Robert Powell (Harlequin, Jesus of Nazareth, Tommy), Jenny Agutter (An American Werewolf in London, Walkabout, Logan’s Run) and Joseph Cotton (Citizen Kane, The Abominable Dr Phibes).
Moments after take-off, a passenger plane plummets to the ground, killing everyone on board – except the pilot, Keller (Powell). Unable to remember anything about the crash, Keller finds himself tortured with feelings of guilt, and sets out on a journey of discovery to find out the truth about who was responsible for the crash, and how he was able to survive.
Foreshadowing films like The Sixth Sense and Unbreakable, The Survivor was Australia’s most expensive film at the time of release, and combines spectacular scenes with a moody and chilling atmosphere.
