Wow – and I mean wow. Its good to see David Tennent back as the Doctor – even knowing that his time is nearly up and that we only get to see him a handfull of times this year.
To be honest – looking at the trailer my mind jumped to bus+desert = Midnight clone and thinking that has been done so recently I thought the episode was going to get a little dry very quickly.
Yes this was a character driven episode, but packed in alot of the charm, action, drama and special effects that we have come to expect.
Michelle Ryan plays the mysterious Lady Christina de Souza – who (if memory serves) seems similar to the possible (1990) series 27 safecracker. Christina de Souza is soon joined by the Doctor on a london bus which takes a very unexpected detour into danger. British comedy star Lee Evans also joins the cast playing a character called Malcolm whose life becomes connected to the Doctor’s under extraordinary circumstances and Noma Dumezweni returns as Captain Erisa Magambo – last seen helping Rose and Donna save the world in Turn Left.
Lee Evans was fantastic as Malcolm and would love to see the possible spin off series take off (though I doubt it) also loose ends allow for a possible Christina de Souza spin off series in a playgirl explorer in flying bus type way (but I seriously doubt that this would work above a handful of episodes).
